Men…….shirts……….?

Do you own cuff links and french cuff shirts?

I have many opportunities in my work to dress well. A nicely dressed man wears a sharp tie, a good looking timepiece and to top it off-a french cuff shirt displaying very stylish cuff links. If you see a man as described he has an air of sophistication.

If you are over a woman’s place after dinner, unbutton the cuffs and leave the cuff links “accidentally’ at her house. To retreive them will get you a second date.

Do you like French-cuffs or regular cuffs on your shirts?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I prefer French cuff shirts.
French only! Looks much better. It’s how shirts were originally designed.

The cuff link is the ultimate male accessory

What does it mean if a shirt has a French Cuff?

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I’m looking at shirts online and some of them have a French Cuff. What does this mean exactly? Does it mean you have to use cuff links?

I think it generally does, the big cuffs…I like them…=0)

Editors Comment:  The French cuff shirts are shirts with the long cuffs that fold back.  They are often secured using cuff links.

Does anyone wear French-cuffed shirts casually? I mean with jeans?

Monday, May 4th, 2009

I bought a very nice Perry Ellis shirt the other day. It seems like it’d be more of a casual shirt than a dress shirt…but it has french cuffs. Is it ok to wear french-cuffed shirts with jeans? Should I buy cuff-links also? I really like the French cuffs, I want to start buying more of them

Traditionally, French cuffed shirts are meant to be worn for formal occasions. While you may certainly wear them without ties, it is recommended that you wear them with at least a jacket. Not doing so is considered a faux paux. However, these days, I see a lot of French cuff shirts that are of casual design. If you have such a shirt, you can certainly be adventurous and wear these for less formal occasions with perhaps sweaters and a pair of nice slacks. But wearing them with jeans or khakis defeats the purpose. I would recommend pairing your FC shirt with a dark pair of slacks (navy blue, or gray, or perhaps black) and a good sweater. And a good odd jacket or sport coat, if that is possible. And if you are wearing a french cuffed shirt, you must wear it with cuff links, or silk knots (unless you are planning on rolling up the sleeves).

Blue dress shirts with white, tabbed collars and white French cuffs?

Friday, May 1st, 2009

So I’ve seen these shirts worn in the movie “Payback” and in various tv shows, Law and Order, to name but one. But I can’t find them for sale anywhere!!

What I’m looking for is where I can buy blue dress shirts with white tabbed collars and white French cuffs… I can find blue shirts with white collars and white cuffs, but not with TABBED white collars… Any ideas???

Thanks!!

I looked up tabbed collars because I didn’t know what that was, and found these:

Where can I find casual Men’s XS button-down shirts (long sleeved)?

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Where can I find casual Men’s XS button-down shirts (long sleeved)?

I’m 22 and very short and skinny. I’m happy to spend up to $200/shirt (don’t worry, it’s my own money, not my parents 🙂 )

I’m especially interested in brands/stores that carry XS and possibly information on how to get casual shirts custom-made (how expensive is this, anyway)? I live in San Francisco if it makes a difference.

There are surprisingly few decent XS shirts on eBay; I’ve been looking on it for months. Thanks for the suggestion, though — I’ve been able to find jeans there that fit.

Thanks!

I think Abercrombie & Fitch carries shirts that small. They r kinda expensive but not that bad.
