what’s the difference between french cuff and regular shirt?

A french cuff shirt has its cuffs separate from each other and are bound together with cufflinks. The french cuff shirt is generally a classier shirt for more formal occasions. A ‘regular’ shirt is usually a barrel cuff – where the cuff is bound with buttons in a barrel shape. Can be for formal use but casual use is just as good.

Is it ok to wear a French Cuff Shirt without a suit?

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

I bought a French Cuff Shirt from Express. I know in the past they are formal events with a suit. This shirt is pretty fun a soft aqua with strips on the inside of the cuff and collar, think I can just wear with black slacks? Maybe try something trendy?

sure – french cuff shirts are not just for wearing under a suit. Add a nice pair of cuff links and slacks and you’ll look fine.

white or black french cuff shirt with tux?

Friday, April 15th, 2011

black tux, dark-ish platinum vest and long tie.

I’m just asking this because i see a lot of my friends’ homecoming and prom pictures and the majority of them wear a black shirt, instead of the classic white shirt. Thanks 🙂

white would be my preference – and I’d trade the long tie for a bow tie – James Bond never wears a long tie with his tux!
