Does anyone wear French-cuffed shirts casually? I mean with jeans?

I bought a very nice Perry Ellis shirt the other day. It seems like it’d be more of a casual shirt than a dress shirt…but it has french cuffs. Is it ok to wear french-cuffed shirts with jeans? Should I buy cuff-links also? I really like the French cuffs, I want to start buying more of them

Traditionally, French cuffed shirts are meant to be worn for formal occasions. While you may certainly wear them without ties, it is recommended that you wear them with at least a jacket. Not doing so is considered a faux paux. However, these days, I see a lot of French cuff shirts that are of casual design. If you have such a shirt, you can certainly be adventurous and wear these for less formal occasions with perhaps sweaters and a pair of nice slacks. But wearing them with jeans or khakis defeats the purpose. I would recommend pairing your FC shirt with a dark pair of slacks (navy blue, or gray, or perhaps black) and a good sweater. And a good odd jacket or sport coat, if that is possible. And if you are wearing a french cuffed shirt, you must wear it with cuff links, or silk knots (unless you are planning on rolling up the sleeves).
