How do you soften a stiff new button-down mens dress shirt?

I have several mens dress shirts for work. Some are very soft and comfortable, but some seem to stay stiff and uncomfortable despite 10 or more regular washings. There must be a secret I don’t know about.

Mist it with water, and put it in the dryer on high. Let it bang around in there. Maybe the stiff ones are not 100% cotton.

It is probably due to the fabric they are made of. Some fabrics are just naturally stiffer. Fabric softener should help a little. You can get liquid kind to put in the washer or dryer sheets to put in the dryer. Both will help soften clothes.
