Does anyone know any shops/tailors where I can get custom made men’s shirts in Buenos Aires?

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I am looking for some custom made, or custom fitted dress shirts and thought they might be cheaper to buy in B.A. than in the States.

If I were you, I’ d inquire at the information desk of Gallerias Pacifico shopping center in downtown Buenos Aires (located on Florida street), or I would check out the Alto Palermo shopping center (on Santa Fe avenue), ask the Dior shoppe or any other mens suit stores…. They will definetly know or make you buy one of their shirts and tailor it to your body.

Good luck!

Where can I find dress shirts without having them custom made?

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

I am a 6’5″ 200lb guy who is having trouble finding my ideal dress shirt (by the way, thanks alot to those who made the average american male 5’9″ and 190lbs…)

I’m looking for the following: 16 34/35, French Cuff, Tailored or Slim Fit, Spread collar shirts in any/all colors… Any ideas other than getting custom dress shirts?

Try the Big and Tall shops, and Department stores usually have Tall Men’s departments. I have always dated Tall men and they had to go to the department stores to get shirts and pants.

They are out there, you just have to work at finding them. Besides tall Men are sexy.

How to get yellow tint out of white dress shirts……?

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I left my white custom dress shirts in their dry cleaner clear plastic protectors too long and now they have a yellow tint in the collars and cuffs.

What’s the best way to safely remove the yellow? Dry cleaning? Wash with a “color safe” bleach and liquid detergent? Or….?

It is about 20 shirts. Custom made New York dress/business shirts. I would hate to have to toss ’em and buy new ones. Ouch!

Thanks in advance………………

Since they are white, wash in Tide with Bleach and also add some Clorox to the water. That should take care of it. Good luck.

Does anyone know how much it cost to make a custom dress shirt?

Monday, January 12th, 2009

I need a dress shirt to wear a tie.  I need to know where and how much it cost if I use a good fabric how much will it cost and I am a guy I need it to wear at a wedding.

A wedding dress shirt made specifically to your measurement by a reputable dressmaker should cost around $50, if you supply the material and thread and buttons, etc.

Before you complain that the cost is too high, just remember that it would take a minimum of 8 to 10 hours to sew this item, fit it, and do the fine tailoring to your form. So it translates into less than minimum wage.

If you use a tailor, the shirt will cost you a lot more–probably at least double. The cheapest way to get a finely tailored wedding dress shirt, is to buy one that fits you properly over the shoulders, in the length of the arms, and in the neck, and is the general style you want. And then take that shirt to the dressmaker and have her tailor it to your form.

The tailoring should cost around $10. With the shirt itself costing anywhere from $50 to $100 depending on the material, and the manufacturer.

If so, tell me what you like about them! I can make company recommendations!

I love them. I like only the one pocket not two. I like the collar buttons not stays.
