What fabrics should I request for a custom suit?

    I strongly advise you NOT to get a suit made in this way. If your not that bothered about your suits fitting correctly or the stitching being a bit off, then get an off the rack on the high street. If you actually are interested in having a bespoke suit then get it done properly in Harrods or Harvey Nic's. Saville Row is good but some of the tailors there are just surviving on the name. Others, like Gieves & Hawkes, are good.
    Whatever you do, dont get a suit made in Singapore. Think about it, a guy walked up to you on the street, desparate for business and asked to measure you. When you are having a suit made, you are measured and fitted about 3 times before the suit is ready. Dont waste your money. I have been to Thailand and I know exactly what you are talking about and i strongly advise you not to do it!!!
    A shirt is one thing, a suit is a whole different kettle of fish!! You can spot Asian suits a mile off and they are crap.

    I love Italian wool, it is very soft, light, smooth and of the highest quality. dark colors with light or faint pin stripes, thin pin stripes with about one inch between them, offer a slender and taller look. i suggest going to a men's fine clothier, such as Brook's Brothers and check out the fabrics and styles. oh two button jackets only, four buttons are out of style and three buttons are fading fast
