How can I get free or really cheap designer clothes?

I am on a tight budget but I like to look elegant and stylish where can I get cheap quality clothes or free clothes from movies and fashion shows?

    To the best of my knowledge, there are no "free" clothes from movies or fashion shows to be had. There ARE sample sales though, or designer consignment stores.
